16 Apr Trial shows how to boost fertiliser effectiveness, increase plant growth & yield
As farmers consider their fertiliser programs this autumn, I wanted to share some of the results from the second year of the independent trial we’ve commissioned SLR WA, looking at Biolink™ Bio-Hum with nitrogen fertiliser.
The Main Conclusions are:
- For crop biomass – UAN at 50 and 36 L/ha with Bio-Hum at 1 kg/ha recorded significantly higher dry matter weights than standalone UAN at equivalent rates.
- Adding Bio-Hum often resulted in higher canopy cover and SAVI readings over UAN-only treatments. The addition of Bio-Hum led to a significant improvement in dry matter weight.
- Observations throughout the trial identified improvements in root development of Bio-Hum-treated plots.
- Bio-Hum plots also tended to show less stress in the canola plants leading to the crop staying in the vegetative phase for longer.
These observations are consistent with those seen in the wheat crop in the 2024 trial of Bio-Hum.
The trial also found:
- There was an increase in yield with the addition of Bio-Hum to the low UAN rate.
- The addition of Bio-Hum reduced plot-level yield variability. Bio-Hum treatments also had increased grain Oil % by up to 1.5%
What do these trial results mean for farmers?
The results of this trial show that by including Biolink™ Bio-Hum in your solid fertiliser programs, Biolink™ Bio-Hum Soil Drench or new Biolink™ Launch into your liquid fertiliser programs, you’ll save money as well as produce highly productive crops and pastures.
