05 Sep Four ways Biolink™ Solutions are helping farmers increase their efficiency and profitability
We recently had a great trip to Western Australia, where we had the opportunity to meet around 60 farmers. Balancing sustainability and profitability is a constant challenge. Rising input costs, a variable climate, and the push to adopt environmentally friendly practices can sometimes seem at odds with running a profitable business.
But, with the right approach, these goals can work hand in hand, improving both the land and the bottom line.
“Healthy soil, animals, and ecosystems are essential for long-term success,” says Kevin Beecroft, co-owner of Biolink 4 Plants & Animals. “With climate change and volatile markets adding pressure, farmers need to manage resources sustainably while staying profitable. Farming smarter, not harder, is key.”
Biolink Probiotics 4 Plants and Animals is an Australian company producing a range of affordable natural fertilisers, microbial soil stimulants, and animal probiotics.
Complementing all types of fertilisers, Biolink™ products go beyond simply replacing the nutrients removed during pasture and crop production. They work by feeding and adding soil biology – using carefully selected multi-species microbials to create a carbon- and nutrient-rich environment that supports long-term plant growth.
Designed to work alongside existing fertiliser programs, Biolink™ solutions:
- Boost nutrient uptake
- Reduce fertiliser needs for the same or better yield
- Deliver a cost-neutral result by offsetting input savings against product costs
WA farm trials show promising results
In on-farm trials, producers using Biolink™ solutions have aimed to cut fertiliser use by up to 50% – reducing costs without sacrificing yields. By regenerating soil, improving water retention, and promoting healthier plants, farmers are:
- Reducing their reliance on chemicals
- Improving efficiency
- Building resilience into their operations
“Local soils in WA are often compacted or lack structure, which limits both nutrient and moisture-holding capacity,” Kevin explains. “Working alongside WA farmers, we’ve identified four key steps that can help improve soil health, boost productivity, and future-proof farm operations.”
Four Biolink™ strategies for better efficiency and profitability
Step 1: Build self-reliance with better composting using Ignition
Making the most of your on-farm waste saves you money and provides a ready-made source of rich compost. It also builds your soil’s capacity to hold onto moisture and nutrients.
We recommend adding Biolink™ Ignition organic* compost starter and effluent digester into effluent and compost heaps. By increasing the biological activity, Ignition speeds up the breakdown of nutrient material, turning it into nutrient-rich compost faster.
- Add 7–10 kg of Biolink Ignition per 10 tonnes of compost
- Turning the material a minimum of 3 times over 3 to 4 weeks
- Ready to spread in 3–4 weeks
- For more carbon-heavy materials, increase to 10 kg per 10 tonnes
Step 2: Boost soil capacity with Bio-Hum Soil Drench
Use Bio-Hum Soil Drench in your liquid fertiliser program to optimise soil conditions and encourage healthy plant growth.
Rich in organic humates and beneficial microbes, Bio-Hum:
- Improves soil structure
- Increases nutrient retention
- Stimulates plant growth
- Reactivates beneficial microorganisms
It’s a soluble powder that mixes easily into liquid solutions and can be applied directly to the soil. Bio-Hum Soil Drench works alongside your current fertiliser program, supporting crops and pastures during periods of stress. Don’t forget to use broad blue nozzles or larger for this application.
Step 3: Improve fertiliser efficiency with Bio-Hum pellets
Biolink™ Bio-Hum is a pelletised soil conditioner that helps restore and maintain a healthy microbial environment, even in drought conditions.
When used with nitrogen fertilisers or other NPKS blends, Bio-Hum:
- Builds strong root systems for better water and nutrient access
- Increases fertiliser efficiency
- Supports resilience during dry conditions
Tip: Monitor soil moisture and nutrients through the season, adjusting applications as conditions change.
Example application (cooler months): 80 kg nitrogen fertiliser (Urea/SOA Blend) + 2 kg Bio-Hum per hectare every round.
Step 4: Support better digestion, mineral uptake and nutrient absorption
Good nutrition is essential for healthy adult and young stock. Use Biolink™ Opti-Gut probiotics (pellet) blended into grain or mixes for additional weight gain and improved feed utilisation.
Good nutrition is essential for healthy stock. Biolink™ Opti-Gut probiotics (pellet) can be blended into grain or feed mixes to:
- Improve weight gain
- Achieve better feed utilisation
- Stabilise gut flora
- Increase nutrient absorption
Opti-Gut combines multi-strain microbials, humic and fulvic acids, and activated zeolite to improve feed efficiency.
For pasture-based herds, Opti-Gut All Weather Dry Lick supports digestion and nutrient absorption, providing added minerals to achieve optimal diet balance.
New Opti-Gut for Calves and Opti-Gut for Infant Animals support gut health during early growth stages, strengthen immunity, and improve feed efficiency.
Opti-Gut is an affordable supplement that uses powerful, high-strength, multi-strain microbials to help replenish and stabilise gut flora and improve nutrient absorption.
