How Australian farmers can beat fertiliser price increases, increase yields and buy local

No doubt every farmer in Australia is aware of the big jump in the price of fertiliser.

We’ve all read the headlines.

This recent fertiliser price hike is mainly due to a shortage in supply and increases in energy and global urea costs.

Also having an impact on the fertiliser price is the fact that China has experienced a downturn in gas production. This has led China to retain fertiliser stock for their domestic market.

Plus, there have been disruptions to worldwide shipping, resulting in significant cost increases.

This all adds up to a huge headache for Australian farmers.

Increasing the efficiency of fertiliser use on-farm & saving real dollars on fertiliser prices

The Biolink 4 Plants range of organic microbial-based fertilisers and soil stimulants works alongside a farm’s valuable fertiliser by:

  • making nutrients more readily available to plants in any farming system
  • reducing the volatisation of nitrogen and lock-up of phosphorus in the soil, and
  • holding onto potassium so that it doesn’t get washed away from the system via rainfall

By incorporating the Biolink 4 Plants products into their farm management systems, farmers are able to reduce fertiliser input levels and make the best use of their investment. They also get the benefits that come from reintroducing soil biology into the system.

The microbes in Biolink 4 Plants products enrich the soil and make nutrients more available to all crop types. And, by including humic fulvic as an ingredient in our products, we’re increasing the water-holding capacity of plants – another scarce resource on Australian farms.

Fertiliser price increases will continue to be a challenge. But this is an opportunity for everyone in agriculture to reassess farm inputs and find a more sustainable way of operating – both financially and environmentally.
